My Complete Experience
I share here details from my trip in July/2025 that can help you save money and plan better:
Frequently Asked Questions
Flight: Turkish Airlines - The Best Choice
Why I recommend: Besides having one of the best prices, Turkish allows 2 bags of 23kg per passenger (total 46kg!), which is perfect for bringing winter clothes. The A350-900 is super comfortable, with more space in economy seats, included meals and excellent entertainment system. The Istanbul connection is totally worth it.
Accommodation: Airbnb in Valle Nevado
Advantages: Staying on the mountain is incredible! You wake up and you're already in the snow, no need to take transfers every day. The Airbnb I stayed at had a kitchen, so we could make some meals and save a lot compared to hotels.
Real Savings: The cheapest Valle Nevado hotel costs about $200-300/night, while I paid $45/night at Airbnb. Even buying food and cooking, the savings were significant. We had to shop at the supermarket and bring food to the mountain, but it was totally worth it!
Tip: Book in advance, as mountain options are limited and sell out quickly during high season.
Hotel in Santiago: Strategic Breakfast
Smart savings: The hotel breakfast was so abundant and complete that we could eat well until about 11am. Then we only needed a light snack/lunch and then dinner. This saved one complete meal per day, which in Chile makes a huge difference in the budget!
Tip: Look for hotels with breakfast included and well rated. It's worth paying a little more for the hotel if the breakfast is good.
My Total Trip Expenses
| Item | Value ($) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Flight Ticket | $700 | Turkish Airlines, 2 bags included |
| Airport Transfer | $66 | Wetransport shared |
| Santiago Hotel (3 nights) | $113 | With breakfast included |
| Airbnb Valle Nevado (4 nights) | $180 | Room on the mountain |
| Transfer + Equipment | $480 | DaSki - complete package |
| Valle Nevado Ticket (3 days) | $225 | Access to slopes |
| Food | $200 | Lunches + dinners + groceries |
| Extras/Souvenirs | $75 | Memories and unexpected costs |
| TOTAL | $2,039 | 7 days in Chile |
Analysis: For a complete week in Chile with 3 days of skiing, I spent about $2,039. Considering it included international flights, accommodation, equipment, transfers and food, I found it a fair value for the incredible experience I had!
